( Note: Yachtprojects, as a company , was fully responsible for the contracts from 2004, prior to that the responsibility was held by staff whilst in the employ of the vessel concerned during the 1992 to 1997 periods were the responsibility of a previous company
P&EP Nicholas Trading Co Pty Ltd.)
2007 ongoing projects:
1. The motor Yacht "SENSES" shore based engineering management, parts sourcing and maintenance continues
2. Currently undertaking the Project Management under contract for Broward Marine in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, USA of new build Hull 602 and hull 604
3. Consultancy with several owners and their representatives with regard to both refit and new builds . The focal points of these contracts are to find suitable yards to undertake the work, suitable contracted time frames and future ongoing ISM and ISPS management of the yachts with associated companies.
4. Further development of other aspects of the business structure including parts supply, survey work and associated product development. Interior / carpentry management and supply of high end personel to full fill various roles.
2006-2007.. Owners representative / project manager for 180 ft "shadow boat " conversion. Working with industry leaders in both Design and concepts. This project works every aspect of our well oiled system to the maximum as there is a very tight time frame, much structural and technology change and a luxury interior to fit. We had staff involved in both engineering and Interior carpentry management and hands on leading by example. This vessel was brought up to full commercial class with BV and Marshal Islands certification.
2006 , Motor Yacht "Blind Date" 140 ft Lurseen. We oversaw the refit in Atlantic Shipyard, Jacksonville, Florida. This included a full classification set of surveys, (BV) re paint of hull and house, rebuild of Main Engines and auxillary equipment for classification. A very tight schedule with many unforseen problems.
2005/ 2006 Yacht "SENSES" Ongoing assistance in the shore based management and parts procuring for the yacht Liaison between contractors, yard and management company regarding a five month refit and an upgrade in communications system. The yacht had a catastrophic failure of a generator and was ultimately brought to the USA for a refit in GSS Savannah. We were responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the project from the management and owners perspective. This included, setting budgets, new and spare parts procurement for major items, specification writing for major items, QA of all facets of the refit including deck, engineering and interior. We had staff working in Engineering and the interior.
Liason with the yard and keeping costs within the set budget, analysis of the procedures and progress and ensuring that the invoices and work completed matched. What a sea trial ! ask us about it one day !!
2005. Yacht "PRINCESS TANYA" Brought into assess costs and extent of work required to bring this beautiful classic motor yacht back to a standard to charter. Reports for owner prepared and costs assessed.
2005. Yacht "ORION OF THE SEAS" 100 year old classic schooner. Final engineering and commissioning of systems fitted in Multi Million Euro rebuild. Systems include: MAN main engine driving custom hydraulic drives and sail handling hydraulic system. Back up systems in AC and DC with fail safes. Oversee fitting of electronic monitoring system and all aspects of system control via DMP. Hanmann sewage and black water system, Custom Air conditioning system and freezer systems. Custom hot water system and fresh water supply. Alignment of new propeller shafts and fitting of through hulls, custom A brackets. HEM water makers and all other systems currently being used by major yachts. Full inventory and catalog of spares including sourcing and stowage. Engineers hand book and "how to guide" as yacht has very limited space and working conditions.
More systems than a current "space shuttle" was heard from one crew member.
2004 ( Two Yard periods in Seattle) 185Ft Expedition style yacht. The engineering on this yacht had been overlooked at the last major refit when the interior was redesigned. Every system in the engine room required at least if not complete refurbishing. This included a complete redesign of the seawater cooling side of the air conditioning plant and the complete strip down and rebuild of the plant. Whilst this was done at contract the design and new concept was our responsibility. New overboard exhausts were built to my design for the generators. Extensive work was done to the main electrical boards and new concepts were put in place with regard to load sharing and power management. Both generators were stripped and rebuilt to zero hours. All sea water valves were rebuilt as were all fuel and water ballast manifolds. Every pump and motor in the engine room space was removed, rebuilt and replaced and an extensive array of spares was catalogued and stored on board. The main engines were serviced to 5000 hrs and components replaced as required. The complete engine room was prepared for paint, repainted and new markings for all the pipe work and valves positioned. Detailed reports were prepared for the owner and a 5 year survey was completed with ABS.
2003 48 Meter motor yacht . This yacht underwent a major engineering refit and a W6 of both main engines and generators. The yacht was delivered to the owner on time and on budget.
2001/02 Yacht "QUIETPLACE". This major refit included majors on all machinery, and an extension of the hull. Removal and refit of new systems including fresh water, Air conditioning, Evac and Hamman. The yacht was in a stripped condition when we were brought in and in the 11 months of the refit we had to undertake to rebuild the interior working closely with the owner and interior design team. New cabin interiors through out, laundry, Galley and crew areas were designed and fitted. At one stage we had control of 45 individual contractors / workers on the boat at the same time. The bridge was redesigned and a complete electronics, GMDSS room and entertainment compartment fitted into a tight area. Deck spaces were redesigned and tenders and toys purchased and installed. The interior service items were sourced and purchased, catalogued and stored in custom made areas in the yacht. Both Deck, Engineering and Interior schedules of maintenance, storage and log keeping were implemented. A mammoth task to say the least , however with determination, grit and a bucket load of good luck we got the boat completed in a time frame that everyone said could not be achieved and the yacht was shown at the boat show.
The yacht on a good day was anything but a "QUITE PLACE". The surveys were undertaken and the yacht was brought up to MCA standard for charter.
Early 2001, Yacht "CORSTA V" This 133 ft sailing yacht required major engine room refurbishment including new exhausts, rebuild of the generators, new electrics, new control systems for the hydraulics, rewiring of the galley area. All deck services were removed, stripped and rebuilt. Although the yacht was in the yard in Savannah, most of the work was done in house by our engineers. Contracting only specific electronics and hydraulic tasks.
Late 2000 Yacht "Royal Reward" A 90 ft motor yacht that required much maintenance work and the removal and refit after rebuilding of both gear boxes. We fitted a complete chilled water air-conditioning system into the yacht as there was nothing in her previously. All the work on here was done by our own engineering staff with very little contracting help. The deck was refurbished and many new areas of wood work were refurbished by in house staff.
2000 Unnamed 50 ft Baia. Both main engines Cat 3408's were rebuilt in situ by our engineering staff. New bilge, fire and toilet systems were fitted. Hydraulic steering and deck services fitted.
1997. Motor Tug "Corgi" Major rebuild of both main engines, replacement of both gearboxes and 30 year class survey overseen.
1992 -1997 Motor tugs, "Oliver Felix" "Oliver Ann" These tugs were refurbished from the keels up and were placed in class. They were then delivered to new owners in the Mediterranean and Africa.
